Terms of Service

Last updated August 4, 2026

§1 About these terms

These terms govern your use of MyAllergies, a free service for recording allergy information and sharing it with the people who need to know about it. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. You need to be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms on your behalf. An adult can create and manage a list for a child of any age. Our privacy policy explains what we do with the information you record, and it forms part of these terms. Please read it as well.

§2 The service is free

Every feature of MyAllergies is free to use. There are no subscriptions, no paid tiers, no limits that money removes, and no advertising. We do not ask for payment details at any point, and the site has no mechanism to take a payment. Nothing in these terms should be read as reserving a right to start charging you for something you already rely on. The service lets you record allergies, their severity and notes about them, along with dietary restrictions, emergency contacts and instructions for an emergency. It turns that into a page you can share by link or QR code, and a card you can print. Common allergen names are translated into several languages on the shared page. Support is free as well, and a person reads every ticket.

§3 Medical disclaimer

MyAllergies records and communicates information. It is not a medical device, it does not give medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional. Do not use it to diagnose or treat anything, and do not delay seeking care because of something you read here. In an emergency, call your local emergency number first. Do not depend on this site, a link or a QR code to communicate urgent information when someone needs immediate help. The contents of a list are written by the person who created it. We do not verify them and we cannot know whether they are complete or current. Anyone acting on a list, including restaurant staff, schools and caregivers, should treat it as a starting point and confirm anything critical with the person concerned or their family. Ingredients, preparation methods and the risk of cross-contamination vary between places and over time. We cannot guarantee that the site will be reachable at the moment you need it. Keep a physical record of anything that could save a life.

§4 Your account and your recovery key

You can use MyAllergies without an account. An account keeps your lists together and lets you reach them from any device. We do not send email of any kind, and that includes password reset messages. When you register we show you a recovery key once. That key is the only way back into your account if you forget your password, so save it somewhere safe and private. We store only a hash of it, which means we cannot look it up, send it to you again, or recover your account on your behalf. If you lose both your password and your recovery key, the account cannot be recovered and you will need to start a new one. You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you register with, for keeping your password and recovery key private, and for activity under your account. Please tell us if you believe someone else has gained access to it.

§5 Lists created without an account

A list created without an account stays editable through a secret held in your browser. That secret is what lets you continue editing from the same browser without signing in. If you clear your browser storage or move to a different device, you will still be able to view the list through its link, but you will no longer be able to edit it. Registering an account in the same browser attaches those lists to the account permanently, which is the only way to keep editing rights across devices.

§6 Sharing a list

Each list has a readable public address and a permanent address used by QR codes. Both continue to work if you change the readable part, so printed codes stay valid. Anyone holding either address can read the list without signing in. That is the point of the feature, and it means you should treat the link with the same care as the information itself. We ask search engines not to index list pages, but that is a request rather than a guarantee, and it does nothing to stop someone forwarding a link they were given. Deleting a list removes the page. Any link or printed code pointing at it stops working immediately.

§7 Using the service responsibly

Please use MyAllergies for its intended purpose. Do not publish information about another person without their agreement, or the agreement of their parent or guardian. Do not post allergy information you know to be false, because someone may act on it. Do not store material that is unlawful or that infringes someone else's rights. Do not attempt to reach lists or accounts that are not yours, and do not use automated tools to scrape the site or place it under unreasonable load. We may remove content or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we reasonably believe puts someone at risk.

§8 Who owns what

You keep ownership of everything you put into your lists. You give us permission to store that content and to display it to anyone you share a link with, which is what makes the service work. That permission ends when you delete the content. The site itself, including its design, text and code, belongs to us. Please do not reproduce it wholesale, and please do not use our name or branding in a way that suggests we are involved in something we are not.

§9 Availability and changes to the service

We run MyAllergies on modest infrastructure and maintain it with the time we have. We do not promise any particular level of availability, and we may change, suspend or withdraw parts of the service. If we ever had to close the service down, we would give as much notice as we reasonably could on the site itself so that people could take a copy of their lists first.

§10 Limits on our liability

MyAllergies is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, so far as the law allows. We are not liable for allergic reactions or medical outcomes, for decisions made on the basis of information held here, for information that turns out to be wrong or out of date, or for the service being unavailable when you wanted it. Because we do not charge for the service and have never taken any money from you, our liability is limited to correcting the problem where we can. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

§11 Resolving a disagreement

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Please contact us first, because almost everything can be sorted out that way. If we cannot resolve a disagreement between us directly, it will be settled by binding arbitration in Texas, conducted in English before a single arbitrator under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, rather than in court. Neither of us may bring a class action. Claims that qualify for a small claims court can still be brought there.

§12 Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Since we send no email, the version published on this page is always the current one, and the date at the top records when it last changed. Where a change materially affects you we will say so on the site. Continuing to use MyAllergies after a change means you accept it.

§13 Contact

For questions about these terms, write to [email protected]. For help with the service, open a support ticket or write to [email protected]. Our postal address is MyAllergies, PO Box 492, Rockwall, TX 75087. For anything urgent and medical, contact emergency services rather than us.

These terms describe how MyAllergies actually works today. If you spot something here that does not match what the site does, please tell us and we will correct it.
